The Cuban Zoo and live food

I had my mother gazing in horror one day when I told her about the stray dog van that drags around a metal trailer with a one-way door on the back. This vehicle seen in places like Marina Hemingway and Playas Del Este is “the end” for stray dogs in Havana. When I say the end, I mean that it’s not an easy end.. as you´ll soon find out. Once a series of stray dogs have been rounded up, some with the telltale ailment of Sarna (no hair) all over their skinny bodies, the van pops off to the zoo (yes the one near boyeros) where the strays are left to grace (temporarily) with Lions, Tigers and other carnivores on the open range at the said Zoo…Nothing like live pray I guess but rather a gruesome end for these strays…
