Tripadvisor Gives Cuban Resort Worlds Best Status

Vacation review giant Tripadvisor today announced the world’s highest ranked all-inclusive resort. What makes the accolade so important is not only that it’s the Cayo Santa Maria Royalton Hotel but, that the American company finally decided to give Cuban customer service a thumbs up and the prestigious title it deserves. The Cayo Santa Maria Royalton Hotel in Cuba ranked as the best resort for all-inclusive vacations in the world, an incredible boost to moral for Cuba’s MINTUR tourism ministry who has been working tirelessly on customer service and visitor satisfaction for over a decade.

The five-star resort, located to the north of the central Cuban province of Villa Clara, ranked first among the 25 most popular hotels in the world, according to the Travelers’ Choice 2014 awards given by the online page from the criterion of 100s of thousands of loyal readers and reviewers across the globe.

Cayo Santa Maria is located in the Jardines del Rey Archipelago that skirts Cuba’s northern Atlantic coast. Two separate island groups exist within these chains. The first is where Cayo Santa Maria is located and includes two other islands called Cayo Ensenachos and Cayo Las Brujas. All three islands are connected to the mainland by a causeway originating in the sleepy town of Caibarien.

The second chain, somewhat better known, are the twin islands of Cayo Coco and Cayo Guillermo pertaining to the province of Ciego de Avila, likewise connected to the mainland by a separate causeway which starts in Moron. A third island called Cayo Romano is connected by road to Cayo Coco and is said to be the next project on Cuba’s extensive list of future tourism destinations.

The Hotel Royalton had already been chosen as the Best Hotel in the Caribbean in 2013, and now exceeds the Iberostar Grand Hotel Paraiso, Mexico; Kurumba Maldives, Maldives; and Le Blanc Spa Resort and Secrets Maroma Beach Riviera, also from Mexico all of which offer tough competition but not enough to win the hearts and minds of TripAdvisor´s increasingly savvy travelers.

The resort is operated under the All-In Luxury Concept by Canada’s Blue Diamond and is designed only for people over 18.

One other Cuban resort, the Melia Cayo Coco also located in Jardines del Rey, made the top-25 finishing in 20th place

Canadians know all too well about the exemplary customer service guaranteed by Cuban resorts on whole. Over 1 million Canadians choose Cuba as their main vacation destination each year and, for over two decades have made up over half of Cuba’s entire foreign tourism arrivals.

Tourists to Cuba’s northern exotic islands are often of the twin destination variety, where visitors spend part of their vacation at a beach resort and the second part in one of Cuba’s historical colonial cities such as Havana, Trinidad, Holguin, Camaguey or Santiago de Cuba. Some of these cities have recently celebrated their 500th birthdays, further promoting culturally inspired tourism to the Caribbean nation.
